FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
The things people usually ask before they write to us.
What is Mula?
Mula is a platform for product businesses to connect product, supply-chain, environmental, inclusive-value, and supporting evidence, then use that information for Digital Product Passports, Impact Reports, calculations, readiness, and business decisions.
Is Mula an ESG reporting tool?
Not exactly. Reporting is one use of Mula. The platform is built around the evidence underneath the report and the decisions that evidence can support.
Environmental metrics sit beside Inclusive Metrics, supplier and product information, evidence quality, readiness, and business context.
Which industries does Mula support?
Mula currently focuses on Fashion & Textiles and Beauty & Skincare.
We would rather build strong industry models than pretend every product category needs the same fields, evidence, and methods.
What is a Mula Digital Product Passport?
A product-level record that can connect identity, provenance, materials or ingredients, suppliers or makers, selected impact information, and supporting evidence.
The public view is shared deliberately and can be accessed through a persistent QR-linked address.
Is a Mula passport a certification?
No. A passport records what the business can support and shows the status or source of that evidence.
It does not certify the product or replace inspection, assurance, or regulatory obligations.
What is different about a Mula Impact Report?
Mula does not treat an Impact Report as an environmental report with a social chapter at the end.
We bring environmental performance, Inclusive Metrics, evidence quality, business context, and next actions together so the report is useful for management as well as communication.
What are Inclusive Metrics?
Inclusive Metrics help a business understand forms of value that environmental reporting does not measure, such as people, suppliers, communities, local value, skills, participation, and other context-specific indicators.
They remain distinct from environmental metrics rather than being blended into one sustainability score.
Does Mula calculate carbon or LCA results?
Mula supports scoped environmental calculations using defined methods and recorded inputs.
The exact result depends on the method, data, and boundary. Missing stages remain visible, and a partial calculation is not presented as total product impact.
Is the Mula LCA Calculator free?
Mula is developing the free LCA Calculator with Studio Sejauh for supported estimates and a basic Calculation Summary.
Professional Impact Reports are a separate paid service with agreed scope, evidence review, interpretation, and report preparation.
Does Mula use AI?
AI may help read documents, structure information, or suggest mappings.
Reported figures come from defined methods, approved data, and explicit rules. AI does not get to invent a missing number because a form was incomplete.
Does Mula guarantee compliance or certification?
No. Mula can help organise evidence, identify gaps, and prepare information for buyers, markets, reports, or frameworks.
Compliance, certification, assurance, and regulatory responsibility remain with the relevant business and authorised bodies.
Do I need perfect data to start?
No. Most businesses do not have perfect data.
Start with what you already have. Mula distinguishes between measured, documented, estimated, self-declared, and missing information rather than forcing everything into the same level of certainty.
Who owns my data?
Your business records remain your business records.
Mula structures and processes them to provide the service. Public sharing, partner access, research contributions, and other uses are separate decisions rather than automatic consequences of using the platform.
Does using Mula mean my data is added to a benchmark?
No. Private service use and contribution to future aggregated research or benchmarks are separate.
Any contribution should require specific permission and quality review.
What happens if I stop using Mula?
Offboarding rights and the treatment of published outputs depend on the applicable service terms.
Persistent passport addresses are designed so a printed QR does not simply become a broken link. Exact export and retention terms should be stated in the agreement for the service you use.
How much does Mula cost?
Pricing depends on the product and scope.
Digital Product Passports, professional Impact Reports, and guided support involve different work. We recommend the smallest useful scope rather than forcing every company into the same package.
Can I start with one product?
Yes. In many cases, that is the best place to start.
