Your name stays yours

If a brand names you in its product passport, you decide what appears. Not the brand, and not us. This page sets out what can appear, what will never appear, and how to withdraw at any point.

What can appear

Five things, and each one is a separate decision

A product passport is the page a customer opens after scanning the QR code on a label. If you worked on that product, the brand can ask permission to name you. The request is split into five parts, and you can agree to some and not others.

  • NameA name you choose. It can be a nickname, a cooperative's name, or no name at all.
  • RegionDistrict or province only. An address never goes here.
  • Stage of workThe part you did: weaving, dyeing, sewing, plaiting.
  • A quoteYour own words, if you want to write them. We do not write them for you.
  • A photographOf you, or of the work. You choose the photograph, and you can decline both.

Agreeing to your name and declining a photograph is a complete and valid answer. Nothing here is required, and declining one part does not cancel the others.

What will never appear

This is not your choice to make. It is our rule

The following never enters a product passport, no matter who asks. A brand cannot add it, and we hold no field for it.

  • Home address
  • Phone numbers, yours or your family's
  • Wages, income, or piece rates
  • ID numbers and identity documents
  • Personal photographs you did not choose
  • Health or family matters

If someone asks you for anything on this list and gives a product passport as the reason, that request did not come from us.

How permission is given

On paper, read aloud, and you keep a copy

Permission is not a checkbox in an app. It is a letter, and the order is always the same.

  1. The brand sends a permission letter

    It names the product, the part of the work that is yours, and the five items above one by one, each with its own yes or no box.

  2. The letter is read aloud, not just handed over

    If you would rather listen than read, that is ordinary and already accounted for. You can take time, bring someone with you, or take it home first.

  3. You sign only the parts you agree to

    Anything you do not agree to is left blank. A letter with blank boxes is still valid and still used.

  4. You keep one copy

    One copy for you, one for the brand. Yours carries the date and how to withdraw.

Withdrawing

At any time, with no reason required

You do not need to wait for a contract to end, you do not need to explain why, and you do not need the brand's permission to withdraw your own.

  • Tell the brandThe fastest route. They are obliged to pass it on, and obliged to tell us.
  • Contact us directlyIf speaking to the brand is uncomfortable, come to us. We will not ask why.
  • Through someone you trustA cooperative officer, a family member, or anyone you name can pass it on for you.
  • Your name, quote and photograph come off every passport within 24 hours.
  • The rest of the passport stays intact. The product is not withdrawn and your work is not undone.
  • No penalty, no record against you, and no effect on the next order.
  • If you change your mind later, permission can be given again from the start.

Common questions

The four we are asked most

  • Am I paid because my name appears?

    No. Attribution is not a substitute for wages and is not part of how pay is calculated. If anyone offers attribution in place of payment, that is not how this is meant to work.

  • If I decline, will I get less work?

    It should not, and brands using Mula have agreed to that. If it happens anyway, tell us.

  • Who can see the page?

    Anyone holding the product who scans the code. Treat it as you would something printed on the label: open to the public.

  • Is my name used for anything else?

    No. Not in advertising, not sold on, and not on passports for products you did not work on.

If you have a question, or want to withdraw

You can come to us directly, without going through the brand. We answer in Indonesian, and we will not ask for a reason.
