A product passport can make materials, care, provenance and supporting information easier to find. Its business value depends on the information it contains and how people use it.
A story with its evidence on record
A value chain documented with the makers’ permission can help a brand explain how a product was made. The usefulness depends on the quality, coverage and public sharing permissions of the records.
The record and resale
The passport address does not change, and the record behind it stays open to whoever holds the piece later. Second-hand buyers tend to look for provenance before they pay, and the record is what they can read for themselves. For a craft brand, a healthy secondary market is proof of value, not a threat.
The relationship after checkout
A passport can offer a continuing point of contact after checkout, with care guidance, a repair route or return information. Keep these details accurate and available alongside the brand’s other support channels.
Built to outlive the transaction
A stable passport address lets a product record remain reachable when the product changes hands. What stays readable follows the service and retention terms; a permanent address does not promise indefinite hosting of all content.
